Water ... An Essential of Life
In many rural communities getting
safe drinking water is real problem.
In the picture you see children bringing
water back to their village. This often takes several hours of time
and several miles of walking - to bring water from the closest pond
or stream.

beside the well that was drilled last summer in Mayefuni. It produces
enough pure drinking water to supply Mayefuni and a couple surrounding
villages. Not only do the people of this area now have safe water
to drink - but as a result of the campaign last year and the follow-up
there is now a church established in Mayefuni.
At the time of our visit to Mayefuni there were
7 people infected with guinea worm. Guinea worm infection is a common
debilitating disease that occurs in areas that do not have access
to safe drinking water. With the well this disease will be virtually
eliminated in this area.
In the picture you see a brother holding up a
guinea worm that was extracted from a man's leg.
