Water
Wells:
And whosoever shall give to drink
unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the
name of a disciple, verily I say
unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.Mark 10:42
Water! We take it for granted. It is only a few steps away and
a turn of a faucet. In many places in northern Ghana having just
a cup of water is not so easy. Sometimes an entire day can be spent
just in carrying and storing enough water for the household to
use. The next morning the routine starts all over again. As a result
many children miss out on attending school. Oftentimes the water
supply—a reservoir or small stream—are many miles away
and the water is not safe to drink. (Parasites, bacteria, etc.)
This necessitates finding firewood to boil the water. Another backbreaking
chore that eats into the day.
The
daily chore of carrying water. Repeated until enough water
is brought to supply the household for day.
